Who has never looked at a cloud once in their life and saw either an animal or a face or anything else that one’s imagination can create?
The idea behind the Phantasmagoria project takes its origin in what can spark from our imagination, like seeing something figurative in clouds. Back in 2021, I had taken pictures of oak trees during winter at the Oxleas Wood in London. The contrast between the phantasmagoric shape of the branches against the blue sky and clouds was mesmerising. As I left my eyes wandering over the pictures, I started imagining what it could look like if I flipped one and join them together in a mirror effect.
Through the contemplation of the forms and shapes the symmetry creates, a hidden world, fairy-like, unveils. Each and every person will most probably see something different and possibly unique. Spirits of the nature, forests or plants, inhabit each picture.
I wish for my pictures to trigger the viewer’s imagination.
